I couldn’t resist a Weakness post for the last full week of October. With November just around the corner and the holiday season sneaking in it felt like the right time to feature my favourite fall lip colors!
It’s finally time! WELCOME to my stop on The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street Blog Tour! Pull up a chair because you are in for a real treat. If you have been following my instagram then you know my love of Autumn and especially the month of October knows no bounds. I have been indulging in all my favourite seasonal reads and this particular book holds a special place in my heart. When the Peculiar Street Team reached and asked me to read this beautiful book I simply could not resist!
This autumn season is all about opulence in fashion. I love this addition of rich colors and textures to mirror the beauty we find in nature this time of year. Incorporating velvet into your seasonal wardrobe doesn’t have to be tricky. Pairing bold velvet boots with your favourite jeans or dress, trading in your go-to tee for a velvet tee or cami instead – shows that the material has what it takes to give any outfit a little EXTRA. The velvet trend may be found in a wide variety of shops from all price points! These are just a few of my favourite pieces.
There are SO MANY BOOKS this autumn season that I cannot wait to get my little paws into. Here are a few of the early autumn reads I am most looking foward to reading. Has anyone read any of these? What did you enjoy most or are looking forward too? Please no spoilers!
“I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”
― Henry David Thoreau
The season that sneaks in around the edges of August in the form of a cool breeze during the summer nights or the occasional brisk morning when out walking the pup. It lingers like an old friend during back to school season and the inevitable prep for Halloween. I always anticipate autumn weeks in advance. Florida isn’t known for it’s cool climate and those brisk autumn days are so few. It’s the time I can finally wear layers of scarves and sweaters, boots and over the knee socks, dresses and tights. It’s the time for pumpkin patches and as many outdoor activities (movies in the park, bonfires and smores!) sans bugs that we can cram into the few weeks we have it. Emma and I love to make apple cobblers, autumn stews and enjoy many cups of tea with all the windows thrown open in the house.
Autumn is in full swing, my daughter and I are all set for adventure this season. She’s old enough to remember hay rides and hunting for pumpkins, Halloween movie nights and creating our costumes. I also cannot resist making room in my closet for new autumn pieces. I’ve narrowed down my shopping list to these staples: fall floral prints, oxfords, collared tops, layered jackets, and chunky knit sweaters. I’ve seen a slow change in my own personal style since Emma came into my life. As much as I love a good trend, I really love and appreciate classic pieces that withstand the ever evolving state of fashion each year. Which does explain my current taste for vintage floral patterns and embroidered pieces. Oxfords, whether flat or heeled offer great counter balance to so much feminine print, while cable knit sweaters are often a necessity. I cannot resist pairing my vintage and embellished Peter Pan collars with cozy sweaters for a nerdy meets vintage look. I’ve already acquired a few pieces from my autumn shopping list and am sharing some of my favorites in this post as well!
