BTT: Netflix Book Tag

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Book Tag Thursday! I love The Netflix Book Tag idea from Thrice Read. (I am none to happy with the cancellation of Sense8 right now. Color me DEVASTED.) Especially since I’ve been binge-ing shows all week! Keep reading below for some of my most recent reads, buys and recommendations!

Recently Watched: The Last Book You Finished Reading

Pictures of Hollis Woods by Patricia Reilly Giff. It was recommended to my by a teacher friend and surprisingly something I had not come across prior. I love it. It is haunting and beautiful.

Top Picks: A Book That Has Been Recommended to You Based on a Book You Have Previously Read

Wintersong: A Novel by S. Jae-Jones has come highly recommended by a lot of my bg-ers who know my love of fantasy and my growing love the new adult genre. I am really excited to read this soon!

Recently Added: The Last Book You Bought

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I recently purchased the UK EDITION because it is simply beautiful! I cannot wait to dive into this new read by one of my absolute favourite authors.

Popular on Netflix: Books that Everyone Knows About

Sarah J Maas has pretty much taken over the ya side bookstagram. Who doesn’t know about her books? I’m genuinely wrecked after finishing A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses).

Comedies: A Funny Book

I am really looking forward to reading Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick. She is one of my all time favourite nerds and actresses!

Dramas: A Character Who is a Drama King/Queen

Checkmate: This is Reckless (Checkmate Duet Series) (Volume 1)

The Checkmate Series featuring Drew and Courtney has the ABSOLUTE WORST CHARACTER I’VE EVER READ (this year). Mia Fucking Montgomery. She is drama and crazy all rolled into one bizarre package. If you love a great steamy read with a little bit of crazy absolutely check out this series!

Animated: A Book with Cartoons on the Cover

Carry On I have such mixed feeling about this cover! I love that comic book vibe but at the same time I’m just not sure…

Watch It Again: A Book/Series that You Want to Re-read

I would love to read Harry Potter Complete Book Series Special Edition Boxed Set by J.K. Rowling again. Especially with my daughter who is not entering this stage where she really appreciates books and reading.

Documentaries: A Nonfiction Book You’d Recommend to Everyone

GIRLBOSS I have so much love for Sophia Amoruso! If you are as into fashion and it’s ever evolving way of life please check out this book!

Action and Adventure: An Action-Packed Book

I recently finished Royal Bastards and absolutely LOVED IT. It’s fast paced and the author really doesn’t pull his punches with this one. Prepare for all the feels and wild ride with this motely group of bastards that must race against time to stop a war.

New Releases: A Book that Just Came Out or Will Be Coming Out Soon that You Can’t Wait to Read

All the Crooked Saints I really cannot WAIT for the next Maggie Stiefvater book. I am so jealous of everyone who has ARC’s!!

  1. I keep seeing “Girl Boss” around but now I want to check it out! It looks like we have similar taste so I trust you!

  2. I hate that carry on cover so much I bought the UK paperback edition because I’ve been waiting for paperback but that cover is a whole world of nope! Looks like a bad 80’s band!

  3. I’m gonna play cause why not?

Recently Watched: The Last Book You Finished Reading

The Sumage Solution by G.L. Carriger. I read this for my book club and I know the author has come recommended but honestly, I was disappointed. It was straight romance and very light on the plot and I was bored by it. Very sad!

Top Picks: A Book That Has Been Recommended to You Based on a Book You Have Previously Read

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, recommended to me by you of course! It became an instant fav and it made me immediately dive into the rest of the books set in that world!

Recently Added: The Last Book You Bought

The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones, though this may be a cheater answer since it came in my Owlcrate. Barring that, I bought a ton of books when I visited the book village up in the Catskills!!

Popular on Netflix: Books that Everyone Knows About

All I can think of is Sarah J. Maas, which is the same as what you said but… it works!

    Comedies: A Funny Book

Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman. I am not usually one for funny books but this book had me absolutely in stitches. I loved it so much I couldn’t wait to read it to my students. A quick but absolutely worthwhile read!

Dramas: A Character Who is a Drama King/Queen

The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo. I wish I had enjoyed this book more because I love the idea of it more than the reality but man, Lim Tian Ching was the ultimate drama king/spoiled brat.

Animated: A Book with Cartoons on the Cover

Wonder by RJ Palacio. Yes, it’s a children’s book. Yes, you need to read it right now. It’s so moving and inspirational and it speaks to being different and what acceptance means. Simply beautiful.

Watch It Again: A Book/Series that You Want to Re-read

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brasheres. I don’t generally like to reread but this series struck a chord with me for some reason.

Documentaries: A Nonfiction Book You’d Recommend to Everyone

Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda. I don’t like nonfiction as a rule. I like information in small digestible bites and I like using my reading time to devour some fiction but this book which is combination libretto, American history, and behind-the-scenes of a Broadway show was so compelling I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t know you could combine all those things into one book. It’s just one of those things I didn’t know I needed until it was in my hands.

Action and Adventure: An Action-Packed Book

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs. Action-packed and hard to put down, this whole series keeps the momentum going and I loved it!

New Releases: A Book that Just Came Out or Will Be Coming Out Soon that You Can’t Wait to Read

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. An author I adore combined with a character I have fallen in love with. How could I even resist? Gimme!

Also, I’m glad you enjoyed Pictures of Hollis Woods. It’s such a beautiful book and the writing just gets me. And All the Crooked Saints was amaaaazing!
