Hey there Narnians! If you follow ntptn on Twitter or Instagram you know my love for Summer and her amazing book recs, subscription box reviews (music + books = dance party!) and all around great time to be had on her social media platforms. I had the lovely opportunity to chat with one of the kindest book bloggers about our mutual love of fashion, reading and music and here is what ensued…

Does your current read ever influence your day-to-day style?

Absolutely! I am a very visual person so when I am reading I am constantly imagining the tiny details of each character’s outfits. When I binge read The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, I bought a new leather jacket and started wearing dark red lipstick like Izzy. And after reading The Lunar Chronicles I spent 40 dollars on a an awesome KillStar Luna Necklace …. I love incorporating the books I love into my outfits.

Who are your fashion icons/inspirations?

First I would have to say Christian Siriano. I met him as an intern and had the chance to watch him work. Not only was he super kind to everyone around him but he was really dedicated to making women of all shapes and sizes look their best. Second would have to be Alexander McQueen. He embraced all of his shadows and allowed it shine through in his style. There is a specific McQueen quote that I really love and it sort of also explains how I feel about my personal style.

“People find my things sometimes aggressive. But I don’t see it as aggressive. I see it as romantic, dealing with a dark side of personality.”

As a former free-lance makeup artist, I am absolutely obsessed with your makeup! It always looks flawless and completely represents your personal style. I adore your bold lips. What are some of your favourite lipsticks?

Fave lipsticks:I really love Makeup Monsters formula and color selection! Plus the packaging is super fun. My favorite specific colors are:800897840327_liquidsuedecreamlipstick_vintage_main

My all time favorite highlighter is Golden Lights by Makeup revolution. Its super affordable and makes me feel like a goddess~

What is your favourite trend?

HIGHLIGHTERS. I am obsessed with all things sparkly and any excuse to put glitter on my face is A++++++. Plus we are seeing a lot of colored highlighters and it makes me so happy to see people experimenting with these!!!!!!
Also loving all the metallic makeup we are seeing. It’s such a fun trend.

Now that we have covered all things current, what would you say are your can’t live without classic pieces?

The only piece of clothing that is an absolute MUST for me, is Spanx Leggings. These are the most well made leggings that I have ever owned and they feel so lush and look nice on any occasion. Not only that but they also smooth everything out; making me look even more flawless LOL
Also LIQUID LIPSTICK. I cant get enough of it. I can’t remember the last time I wore regular lipstick. I can’t leave the house without some in my purse because it completes every look and is SUPERRRR long lasting. Must have.

Speaking of classics and all things nostalgic, music is obviously a big part of your blog and un-boxing videos. Do you have any songs that stand out and remind you of your favourite books?

The Vamps- She Was The One. This song reminds me of Where She Went by Gayle Forman, which is the conclusion to the If I Stay series. I heard this song shortly after finishing Where She Went and I immediately started crying. It felt like it was written FOR this book. The two are forever linked in my head.

Griffin Peterson – Ugly Love. This is sort of cheating because the song WAS written for the book but in my defense, most people only tie Griffen to Maybe Someday. Even though I love the soundtrack for Maybe Someday; there is just something so melodic and soothing about Ugly Love. The emotion portrayed in the lyrics is truly amazing.

Light My Fire by The Doors– The Darkest Minds. I grew up listening to vintage rock like the doors and the who so when I spotted a lot of my dads favorite jams in The Darkest Minds I immediately fell in love with it. This song in particular always reminds me of the black betty crew because it was one that I particularly remember listening to on the drive from NC to TN with my dad when I was younger. So much nostalgia.

Thank you so much Summer my love! This was a blast. Keep up with Summer and buttermybooks here:
